Rushes
The raw files straight from the camera or phone, before any editing: every take, the bad ones included.
Rushes, or raw footage, are the raw material of editing. A minute of finished video often takes far more footage: several takes of each line, cutaways, false starts.
Editing is mostly sorting: keep the take where the voice is clear, cut the silences, drop the rest. It is the slow part, the one that leaves so many videos sitting on phones.
Drop your rushes into Emodio as they are: it keeps the good takes, cuts the silences, reframes and adds subtitles.
A coach films her intro five times; in the rushes only the fourth is smooth, so that is the one that stays.
