Keyframe
A fixed point in time where you set an element’s position, size or opacity; the animation fills in everything in between.
In animation you don’t draw every frame. You set keyframes: at 0 seconds the title is off screen, at 0.5 seconds it is in the centre. The software works out every frame in between.
Two keyframes make a movement; how you travel from one to the other (the easing) decides whether it feels alive or mechanical. In a short video, a few well-placed keyframes beat a pile of effects.
With Emodio you don’t set keyframes: you say in one sentence what should move, and the animation follows.
A café’s logo slides in from the left: one keyframe off screen, one in the centre, then a short pause before the text appears.
